Subject: Response Regarding the Budget Workshop
Ms. Wright,
Thank you for clarifying the nature of today’s 1:30 PM Finance Committee budget workshop and for acknowledging the typographical error in the posted notices.
However, I would like to raise a few concerns.
Customarily, meetings of this importance are announced to owners by email. In this case, no such email notification was provided. Instead, owners apparently learned of the workshop only by encountering flyers posted in the building, prominently labeled “Grievance Meeting,” with “Budget Meeting” appearing under the agenda heading.
With the workshop scheduled for 1:30 PM today, October 14, and the clarification provided only shortly before the meeting, I am unable to attend on such very short notice. I suspect many other owners are in the same predicament, particularly those who depend on advance email notification to arrange their schedules.
I must also ask how holding a budget workshop at 1:30 PM on a weekday, without an email announcement or a Zoom option, promotes transparency and meaningful owner participation in a process that will affect every unit owner financially.
Given the circumstances, I respectfully ask that Management and the Finance Committee reconsider the arrangements and either provide a Zoom option that would allow owners to participate remotely and preserve a recording, or reschedule the workshop to a more reasonable date and time, preferably before the monthly Board meeting on Tuesday, October 20.
The proposed 2027 budget is too important for owners to be effectively excluded by inadequate notice and scheduling. My request is simply that owners be given a fair and practical opportunity to observe the process and understand the deliberations before the budget proceeds further.
Thank you for your consideration. I would appreciate a response as soon as possible, given that the workshop is scheduled to begin in approximately 17 minutes.
Respectfully,
Matthew Roth
