Review and Vote on Roofing Replacement Contract
The Board discussed the proposals received from two contractors — Best Roofing and Salomon Roofing and Waterproofing — and the issues being addressed by the project.
- The Board considered input received from our engineers, The Falcon Group, and from representatives of each roofing company during their January 4 interviews.
- After discussion, the majority of the Board expressed their preference for Best Roofing. Factors in favor of Best were a shorter timeline for completion, the proposed process for handling of a drainage system issue involving two penthouse roofs, and the plan to use outside staging of the project in order to expedite completion and avoid use of the service elevator.
- The Tower 500 Maintenance Supervisor also gave a positive review of Best Roofing based on his prior experiences with the company.
Vote on Best Roofing Proposal
Stewart Glass moved that the proposal from Best Roofing be submitted to the Association attorney for review and finalization. Carine Weill seconded. Voting in favor of Best were: Stewart Glass, Carine Weill, Karen Madsen, Brett Davis and Mindy Schwarz. Voting no were Steve Schwarcz and Bonnie Gold, both of whom preferred Salomon.
